Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell, mostly identified professionally using her first two names as Billie Eilish, is an American pop music star who is a singer, dancer and songwriter.
Born on 18th December 2001, O’Connell was raised in Los Angeles in a family of musicians and actors. Along with her elder brother Finneas O’Connell, Eilish was homeschooled before joining the LA Children’s Chorus at the age of eight. Here, she was able to perfect her vocal abilities and cut out her own niche in music.
At the age of eleven, Eilish began writing, singing and performing her own songs, taking after her brother Finneas who was already an accomplished musician and stage performer of his own songs as a member of the Slightlys pop group.
Born and raised by two musician parents, Eilish’s childhood environment was full of music and art. She kicked off her music career at quite a tender age when she began singing in the LA Children’s Chorus at age eight.
By the time she was reaching 12 years old, she had begun releasing her own “seasoned” and original music material.
With songs such as “Fingers Crossed” that tells an apocalyptic story of a virus outbreak, and “Ocean Eyes” calling out to a past lost love, Eilish’s voice and perspective wanders far beyond her tender age in its emotion and power.
In her bio on Facebook, Billie Eilish is described as having an “appetite for the gliding, glassy indie-pop”, a style more identified with pop artists like Lana Del Rey and Aurora.
Eilish is also said to have created her own unique “blendy” style of music out of the fact that she listens to all kind of music, wholly defined by no particular style or genre. Her lyrics are described as “calling out” and are often characterized with a mix of both heartbreak and damaged indifference.
Billie Eilish is currently signed to Interscope Records. Her producer is her elder brother Finneas O’Connell, O’Connell also co-writes Eilish’s music.
The young pop star’s current managers include Danny Rukasin and Brandon Goodman, both Los Angeles-based artist managers whose specializations include music management and artist development. Both men operate under the Working Group Artist Management Company stable.
